Ruth Govorchin, PLCGS

Ruth has a Master's Degree in Educational Administration, has five teaching credentials and is a retired Special Education Teacher. Her specialties in that field include Fine Motor and Reading.

She has been deeply involved in genealogy for 40 years; doing it part time while teaching. Her father got the genealogy "bug" started; she has taken it over. Her nephew, Andy Wilson, also has the "bug" and has the Wilson/Rankin/Berger families on Public Member Trees. Ruth contributes to this tree by sending her Nephew new sources that she has found.

Ruth graduated from the University of Toronto, (Canada) with a Professional Learning Certificate in Genealogical Studies. She is a member of NGS, APG, UGA, So.Cal. Gen. Society, Orange County GS and of course GSNOCC.

She has done much digging into German research but is not a master of that since she doesn't read or write much German. She is currently working on obtaining the Certification of Genealogists. She spent two years attempting to find a Swedish grandfather for one of her friends. She would have used that family for parts of the CG requirement; but dropped that family. She is now working on the Eldred/Willard families of New England.

Offices for GSNOCC that she has held include Program Chair, Seminar Chair and she is the current President.
