11:00 am - MyHeritage-A Technology Innovator!

MyHeritage is Genealogy search web site owned by an Israeli Company that has come into the U.S. market in a big way over the past 5-10 years. In fact, Dick Eastman groups Ancestry.com, Family Search, FindMyPast and MyHeritage into "the big four" genealogy web sites. MyHeritage is a subscription site, like Ancestry.com and FindMyPast. They also have a genealogy software package, Family Tree Builder, that is free and which you load onto your computer for creating and managing your family tree. The relationship between Family Tree Builder and MyHeritage is similar to that between Family Tree Maker and Ancestry.com. MyHeritage's search algorithm technology was considered so advanced that Family Search recently entered into a working relationship with MyHeritage in order to gain access to the technology. This presentation will provide an overview of the primary MyHeritage functions and demonstrate many of these features.

12:30 pm - GenSmarts-Your Personal Genealogical Research Assistant!

GenSmarts is an application that interacts with your genealogy program and provides research suggestions using artificial intelligence analysis. It develops a profile of the individuals in your program based on where & when they lived. It then matches the profiles with GenSmart's inventory of known records. The program then makes predictions based on this comparison. It is prioritized to highlight missing data and then provide suggestions for search. It will then search selected web sites for the missing data.

GenSmarts works with all the major genealogical programs and is compatible with Windows NT, Vista, XP, 98, 7 and 8. Although it isn't designed to work with the Mac, Mac users can use it. They just need a virtualization software with a Windows VM (Virtual Machine) setup such as Parallels Desktop for Mac, VMWare Fusion, or VirtualBox, and generate a GEDCOM file from their Mac software, and then copy it over into the VM. Or use something like CrossOver from CodeWeavers, which makes it even easier since you aren't loading a full VM session.

The presentation will familiarize you with the capabilities of GenSmarts, demonstrate some of the major features of the application, and provide tips on using the program in conjunction with online research and trips to libraries, archives and other repositories.
